Why do we lift our hands?
I will praise you as long as I live, and in Your Name I will lift up my hands. Psalms 63:4

I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in prayer, without anger or disputing.

Why do we pray for the sick?
Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the Name of the Lord. James 5:14And these signs will follow those who believe: In My Name they will . . . lay hands on the sick, and they will recover. Mark 16:17-18

Why do we have speaking with tongues and interpretation of those tongues in the church?
Therefore, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues. I Corinthians 14:39

Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good . . . to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to still another the interpretation of tongues. I Corinthians 12:7, 10

Why do people sometimes fall under the power of God? (Sometimes called "resting in the Spirit")
At times God just demonstrates His power. I Corinthians 2:4-5

It is not necessarily a mark of spirituality to have this experience. We should just stay open to whatever God has for us.

It came to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one . . . in praising and thanking the Lord
. . . that then the house was filled with a cloud . . . so that the priests could not stand to minister
. . . for the glory of the Lord had filled the house. II Chronicles 5:13-14

What is Prophecy?
But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. I Corinthians 14:3

But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all . .
I Corinthians 12:7,10 NKJ

Why do we have those giving a prophecy or interpretation of tongues come forward first?
Audibility - We feel that it is important for all the church to hear what is being inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Accountability - It allows the leadership to assess timeliness and appropriateness of the message.
